Water requirements - Moderate to regular water
General Information - Abutilon is native to warmer
regions of the world especially South America. Abutilon has very showy bell
shaped flowers.
Hybrids are the most well known of these flowering maples and these can reach 10 feet high and 8 to 10 feet wide. They have broad
maple like leaves with
drooping bell shaped flowers in white, yellow, pink or red. The main bloom
season is late spring and summer, but the white and yellow forms often bloom continuously

Nursery Notes - Keep an eye out for Whitefly and Scale
on Abutilon. In colder climates, Abutilon can be grown, but will need to spend
the winter indoors, so planting it in a container may be a good idea. Use an all
purpose fertilizer. Prune back by 30% in late winter to stimulate new growth and
blooms. Prevent limbs from becoming leggy by pruning lightly through the growing
season.
